Fire Sergeant Completes Fire Inspector Course

From Cherokee County Fire Marshall's Office: Sgt. Pennie Lamanac, with the Cherokee County Fire Marshal Office, has recently completed an 80 hour course to become a Fire Inspector I. The course, which was taught at the Georgia Fire Academy, equips students with the tools necessary to perform fire inspector duties. From communications and building construction, to occupancy classifications and fire inspections procedures, the Fire Inspector Curriculum addresses all of the Georgia State Fire Marshal Rules and Regulations, as well as state law and International codes and standards.

“By becoming a State and Nationally Certified Fire Inspector Sgt. Lamanac has demonstrated her dedication to making our citizens safer. The 80 hour testing and certification process requires careful study and focus to become proficient with our State adopted fire codes and also includes a challenging practical exam,” said Cherokee County Fire Marshal, Barry Gibson. Lamanac was presented with her certificate yesterday by Cherokee County Fire Chief, Tim Prather. “We couldn’t be more proud to have an asset like Sgt.
Lamanac in our office,” added Gibson.
