Flood Watch In Cherokee County: Weather Service

The National Weather Service is warning residents of potential flooding throughout the area.

CHEROKEE COUNTY, GA — Cherokee County is included in a hazardous weather outlook issued by the National Weather Service Tuesday, Feb. 19, warning of lots of rainfall leading to potential flooding. The flood watch is in effect through Saturday.

Tuesday: The weather service says a line of thunderstorms coming across North Georgia Tuesday havecaused localized flooding in the Atlanta metro. There may be some localized flooding in creeks and streams.

Wednesday through Saturday: Officials expect as much as six inches of rainfall this week, with northwest Georgia taking the brunt of it. As rain falls over saturated grounds, flooding becomes more likely, so prepare for flash flooding.

On top of the heavy rain, Weather Service officials say there's a chance of thunderstorms from Wednesday through Sunday.
