Flood Watch Issued For North, Central GA Through Christmas Eve

As much as 2 inches of rain will fall across Georgia Monday and Tuesday. But forecasters are showing a different outlook for Christmas.

GEORGIA — A rainy couple of days before Christmas will turn into a warmer and drier forecast for Christmas day, weather officials said.

Until then, a hazardous weather outlook was issued for portions of north and central Georgia due to a flood watch which is in effect for central and portions of north Georgia through Monday night and into Tuesday morning, the National Weather Service said.

Although some areas saw a break from the moderate rainfall Monday morning, additional rain will develop later on Monday. This will lead to an additional 1 to 2 inches of rain across the area through Tuesday morning.

A flood watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts.

The NWS says to monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.

No hazardous weather is expected past Tuesday, NWS said.
