GA Teams Head To Sugar, AZ, Cure Bowls; When, Where, Tickets

GEORGIA — Teams from the University of Georgia, Georgia State University and Georgia South University will be fighting for the chance to win three bowls games in the coming weeks.

Find out below when the games are and where, if you can still get tickets, and how to celebrate without attending the game.

Georgia vs. Baylor

After losing to Louisiana State University in the South Eastern Conference Championship, UGA will take on Baylor University in the Allstate Sugar Bowl on New Year's Day in New Orleans, Louisiana.

• Where: Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana

• VIP and hospitality experiences: The Allstate Sugar Bowl and Tailgate Guys partnership offers a fresh approach to pregame hospitality inside the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, and consists of several options for individuals, small and large groups, as well as high-end VIP experiences. Offers may include exclusive access to the Claiborne Club Lounge, live entertainment, and celebrity appearances. Other PRE Game Event privileges may include unlimited food and beverage for up to three hours before kickoff, and bypassing lines with a dedicated stadium entrance one hour before gates open.
• Fan Jam: Get to the Dome early for a first-rate tailgate party to be held at Champions Square. The party begins three hours before kickoff and lasts until the game begins. Fan Jam features food, interactive games and entertainment, including special appearances by both schools’ bands and cheerleading squads. Free for fans of all ages. Team pep rallies with the bands and cheerleaders will also be held at Fan Jam.
• Policies for the Allstate Sugar Bowl
• New Year’s Eve Parade: The Allstate Sugar Bowl New Year’s Eve Parade, a Mardi Gras-style parade with floats, bands and other participants, will entertain fans young and old prior to the 2020 Allstate Sugar Bowl. The parade will begin at the intersection of Elysian Fields Avenue and Decatur Street at 2:45 p.m.

• History: From the first Sugar Bowl in 1935 through this past year’s 85th Allstate Sugar Bowl Classic at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, the goal of the event has remained the same – to create the best game possible. Over the years, the Sugar Bowl Classic has hosted many of the best coaches, players, and teams in college football history. Fifty Hall of Fame coaches have stalked the sidelines of the Sugar Bowl, while 18 Heisman Trophy winners and countless All-Americans have shown their skills in the New Orleans event. Throughout history, Sugar Bowl fans have had the opportunity to experience the brilliance of 28 national championship teams as well as seven match-ups between the top two teams in the nation – true national championship games.

Georgia State vs. Wyoming

The 2019 NOVA Home Loans Arizona Bowl will be held in Arizona Stadium featuring Georgia State playing Wyoming on New Year's Eve.

• Downtown Pep Rally: The Pep Rally is held outside of the Downtown Library at Jacome Plaza. Friends, families, and fans are invited to join in the fun. University representatives will be there to address the fans. Cheerleaders, mascots, and bands will come together in a friendly rivalry that will get participants excited for the big game.
• Desert Diamond Casino Tailgate Festival: Begin your New Year’s Eve celebration at the Desert Diamond Casino Tailgate Festival. You will find food vendors and beer, a dynamic car show, Charity and iHeart Villages, Alumni Tailgate parties, and a stage with filled with live music and entertainment. Enjoy a perfect start to your Bowl Game experience. Individual tailgating is not permitted in an area on the University, so plan on participating in the Official Tailgate.
• NYE Bowl Bash: Tucson’s newest New Year’s Eve tradition is the University of Arizona Downtown NYE Bowl Bash with fireworks presented by Tucson Federal Credit Union.
  Ring in the New Year in “Tucson’s Times Square” located at Congress St and 5th Ave, next to Hotel Congress. The event is free to the public and starts at 6 p.m. and will end at 1 am.

• History: The NOVA Home Loans Arizona Bowl at Arizona Stadium in Tucson, is played between bowl-eligible teams from the Mountain West Conference and Sun Belt Conference.

Georgia Southern vs. Liberty

On Saturday, Georgia Southern will take on Liberty University in The Cure Bowl.

• Where: Exploria Stadium in Orlando, Florida

• Fanstand: Recognize the fight of a survivor or celebrate the life of a loved one passed with their name emblazoned in the Fanstand at the Cure Bowl. For a $25 donation to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, you can reserve a spot on the banner that will be displayed across a section of seats at Exploria Stadium.
• Events leading up to the game
• Parking: Plan to arrive at the stadium two hours or more before game time as the traffic in and around the Exploria Stadium will become congested. Whenever possible, it is encouraged to carpool as this will minimize traffic and parking congestion. Reserve your parking in advance using ParkWhiz for all Exploria Stadium events.

• History: The inaugural AutoNation Cure Bowl was between Georgia State and San Jose State in 2015. The game featured a bounty of big plays on special teams, which was only appropriate on a night dedicated to raising money for a special cause. During the game a spotlight was shined on the fight against breast cancer with survivors of the disease and family members included in pregame and halftime ceremonies.
