The work will be done between Sixes Road in Holly Springs and the Etowah River bridge in Canton.

CANTON, GA — The Georgia Department of Transportation has awarded a contract to a company to improve a segment of Interstate 575 in Cherokee County.

Roadside Specialties, LLC will fog seal and restripe an 8-mile stretch from Sixes Road in Holly Springs to the Etowah River bridge in Canton for $498,256, the agency said.

“This project and others like it in northwest Georgia add up to these two things: better mobility and a better quality of life for all the area’s residents,” said Grant Waldrop, assistant district engineer at the Georgia DOT office in Cartersville.

The project is part of Georgia DOT's 2018 construction program. Dozens of roadway improvement projects are ongoing this summer throughout northwest Georgia as crews work to deliver projects on time and on budget while maintaining the state's transportation network. Residents are asked to drive cautiously and safely at all times, especially as they travel through work zones.
