It's Official: Gold Swimmer Signs with University of Texas
Lauren Case says, "When I took my trip to Texas, I knew it was the place for me. I felt so at home with the team and the coaches."
The University of Texas Women’s Swim Team has announced that Chattahoochee Gold’s Lauren Case has signed a National Letter of Intent to swim for the Longhorns starting in the fall of 2016.
The UT Swimming website quotes Texas Head Women’s Swimming & Diving coach Carol Capitani, “Lauren Case is the consummate student-athlete, and I was especially attracted to the way she races and to her humble demeanor. Coached by Falco Fleischmann at Chattahoochee Gold, Lauren is one of the best young butterflyers in the country and a member of both the 2015 U.S. Junior National Team and Junior World Championship Team. She is a great fit for Texas and I am looking forward to our relationship and to her many contributions to the Texas Longhorns in the years to come.”
Gold’s Coach Fleischmann says, “Texas is getting a swimmer that is multifaceted as far as her races, not just a one trick pony. She can race almost any freestyle distance, all the fly races and can hang in the backstroke with some of the top guns.”

Fleischmann thinks Case has a realistic shot at making the Olympic team in 2020, “Lauren has had the will to win from a very early age, something that many girls in particular don’t develop until a much later age. Besides the team records that she has put up, I think she is a great example of somebody that was able to do so while not being the tallest girl on the team. She earned her records through persistence and hard work. Its great fun to watch when she is behind and hunts down competitors with everything she’s got.”
While looking ahead to swimming for UT, Case looks fondly on her time with Gold, “This being my 13th year on Chattahoochee Gold, I have truly grown up on this team. Every coach I have encountered has taught me something that I will take with me to Texas and beyond. My time on this team is a major factor into who I am today. I am extremely thankful to my teammates and coaches, both past and current. Swimming for Chattahoochee Gold has taught me so much, but in the end I have learned to just appreciate every moment of this experience. Being a part of a team is so special, and the moments you have with your teammates are ones you will cherish forever.

“I owe my success to all of my teammates and coaches. Obviously Coach Falco has been a huge part of my career, from my first age group state to my first international meets. He has put in so much work…to get me where I am today, and I am so grateful for all he has done for me. I have received such valuable advice from all the coaches on this team; I am thankful to the entire staff of Chattahoochee Gold for helping me develop as a swimmer and a person.”
Chattahoochee Gold is a year-round club team based in Woodstock, Georgia and trains swimmers at the Woodstock Aquatic Center, Cherokee County Aquatic Center, Mountain View Aquatic Center in East Cobb and the Cumming Aquatic Center.
