Fees change at Southern Museum - Rates to rise for adults, seniors but decrease for youth, military.
The AJC reports on 2/22/19 that the Kennesaw Civil War Museum is increasing its fees (see below) and as a former Kennesaw resident for 15 years I simply comment that it wasn't worth the old fees let alone the new fee schedule.
For all those years I lived in Kennesaw I attended only one time (4/12/12) and that was on the one day a year when it was free to the public.

It was worth 'free' but had I paid the then going rate of $7.50 I would have felt I overpaid by about $5. The new rate simply puts it out of reach for the average person who might have attended.
The only attraction when I attended was the Civil War locomotive 'General' and while it was an impressive engine it bore little resemblance to the actual engine of the Great Locomotive Chase.

Over the 150+ years it has been rebuilt so many times that only 2 pieces of the undercarriage actually date from the original engine.
The original engine did not have a number 3 above the cow catcher it was only known as 'General' and bore that name until it was burned to prevent Sherman from using it. Of course it is difficult to burn a metal locomotive and it was later put into service for many more years, but as noted it was rebuilt several times over the years.
So 'Yes' you can see the 'General' but NOT the 'General' of the Civil War era, that is gone but for 2 heavy pieces of its undercarriage.
