CANTON, GA -- Lent continues through Thursday, April 18 this year. So it's time to start marking calendars for the fish fries sure to be held across Canton during the Lenten season.

St. Clement's Episcopal Church, 2795 Ridge Rd in Canton, is hosting fish frys through April 12 from 5-8 p.m. every Friday. The menu includes fish, hush puppies, coleslaw, dessert and a beverage for $8 - dine in or take out. All proceeds are directed to outreach into the community.

Sunday worship schedule includes:

  • 8 AM: Early Eucharist
  • 9 AM: Contemporary Family Eucharist
  • 10 AM: Sunday School
  • 11 AM: Traditional Choral Eucharist

An Associated Press article published in USA Today called the meal "a timeworn Catholic tradition that provides a safe haven from divides that have long roiled the U.S. church, a place where traditionalist Catholics, progressive Catholics and everyone in between can sit peacefully at the same plastic tablecloth."

Many churches and restaurants are serving up delicious meatless Friday dinners including fish and pasta. For kids there's mac and cheese, pizza and grilled cheese.
So go out and support your favorite parish or visit them all. There are six Fridays in Lent.
