In Memory: Ty Adams, 79, Cherokee Sports Hall Of Fame Inductee

Adams also served as Georgia Dizzy Dean president for 21 years.

Ty Adams, Sr., 79, of Canton, passed away Thursday, June 29, 2017 at his residence. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, July 2, 2017, from the Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Doug Mulkey and Rev. Jason Roberts officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.

Adams was inducted into the Cherokee County Sports Hall of Fame in 2007. He also racked up 30 years of volunteer service with Cherokee County basketball, baseball, football leagues, serving as coach, director and president. Adams also served as president of Georgia Dizzy Dean for 21 years, the Cherokee Sports Hall of Fame website states.

The family received friends from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, June 30; 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, July 1; and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, July 2 at South Canton Funeral Home.

Survivors include wife, Betty Adams; son, Ty and Mekie Adams; son, Todd and Donna Adams; son, Terry and Sandy Adams; son, Ashley and Paige Adams; daughter, Tammy and Wayne Netherland; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
