Reader-Nominated Businesses Of The Year: Canton's Best

CANTON, GA — It's been a tough year for Canton businesses. The coronavirus pandemic presented enormous challenges for most, from the stay-home orders in the spring to restrictions and other hurdles from fall into winter.

To recognize all their efforts, Patch asked readers to nominate Local Businesses of the Year, whether it was the restaurant that made special accommodations for takeout, the shop that opened early, the pizzeria that went out of its way to deliver, the hardware store owner that offered invaluable advice or something else.

These nominations are not an official award, but simply recognition of a job well done.

Here are some of the nominations Patch has received in Canton, and the reason why they should be honored. Several businesses received multiple nominations, which are listed below:

• Harmony Animal Hospital: Excellent care of our furbabies The staff are all extremely caring and go above and beyond to ensure the best care for our pets and pet parents. They have gone out of their way to ensure a safe and clean environment during these trying times even to send pictures to calm a worried fur parent that cannot go into a treatment room, that their furbabys are doing well. Best vet hospital ive ever been to.
• Canton Golf Club: Fastest greens beautiful fairways
• Tasty Donuts:
  • Best taste, largest variety, family owned
  • These donuts are made fresh each day, largest variety and the owners go above and beyond to take care of their customers.
  • This company is top notch. They go above & beyond to take care of their customers.
• Herndon Heating & Air: Herndon Heating & Air has the best staff around. They answer all your questions and are on time every time. They go above and beyond to help. They do not try to sell things you don't need just to get a sale. I love the family atmosphere. They treat you as part of their family.
• Golf Cars Of Canton: This new local business owned and operated by Gary Grim, has done great things for the community. Gary opened Golf Cars of Canton after taking a family trip and renting a golf cart for his family. He had so much fun with his family that he wanted to bring the same joy to other families. Along with Gary, there is Teresa Verner who does the accounting, Matt White & Ryan Grim in sales, Tim Broadwell, Jeff Dover & Tim Hutzler in service. This great team of employees work together to bring a great experience to all their customers. Golf Cars of Canton is a family oriented business that treats their customers like family! Golf Cars of Canton has sponsored many Hole in One's for Canton First Baptist Church, Woodmont Senior men's association, Annual ambassadors charity, Homeless Veterans associations, Cherokee Chamber of Commerce and the Goshen Valley Boys Ranch. Golf Cars of Canton also sponsored the 4th of July and Christmas parades for Canton, as well as providing shuttle services for local events such as the Taste of Canton Chocolate walk and the Canton Beer and Wine walk. Golf cars of Canton has donated to Recovery Bartow in the fight to raise awareness of addiction and help people find recovery. Golf Cars of Canton is a community involved business that deserves recognition!
• Cotton Mill Exchange: Cotton Mill Exchange is the epitome of hometown small business and It provides the ultimate shopping experience with over 150 individually owned and maintained small businesses under one roof! Each booth offers something different and unique. The staff has a can-do attitude and always goes the extra mile to help customers find, purchase, and load gifts, furniture, handmade items, boutique clothing, antiques, artwork, and so much more! The Cotton Mill Exchange is part of the amazing Mill on Etowah just off Waleska St in Canton.
• Your Pie Pizza:
  • Never disappoints. Great food. Great atmosphere. Greeted with a smile and always made to feel like family.
  • Everyone from the owner and the staff are very friendly and are very concerned about your eating experience. When we go here we feel like family.

• Ray's Donuts: Once you've had their donuts you'll never go anywhere else
• Four 41 South BBQ:
  • First and foremost they truly care about the customer! The food is absolutely delicious.
  • Best barbecue around! Never had a bad meal there. When Corona first hit, owners had to re-group to make sure they are able to operate while keeping staff and customers safe. Curbside pickup was added and it was a success, even though it was a lot more difficult to operate than the usual setup. Food is amazing and customers definitely appreciate it. It's not unusual for the restaurant to be sold out of certain items (or even of everything). And this is a good thing, because you know that the food is always fresh and isn't sitting in the fridge for weeks. This is a true family place. Owners are great people and are very active in the community. If you haven't tried Four 41 South barbecue, you should absolutely go. I promise, you won't regret it!
• Primrose Sixes Road: The Leadership team and teachers make me feel like I am dropping my child off to family not a business. All through the Covid nightmare, they have been there for us. Cleaning all the time and doing everything to keep my child safe so I can work. Hurricane no one has power, they have power and are open for my child. I truly do not know what I would do without them.
• Anytime Fitness: It is so nice to finally find a gym that is clean and with a great supportive staff that is so encouraging. They have an amazing trainer (Kate) that is motivating and adaptive. I actually look forward to working out!
• Viva Mexico: The food and staff have always been good.
• Green Heating & Cooling: Professional, Friendly, Quick Response, Goes over and beyond
• Ball Ground Nutrition: They are the greatest people in the world their products help you lose weight they are so energetic and super friendly and I have been going to them for over a year and love them everyday
• Riverstone Bistro: The staff and the owners always serve you with a smile and great attitude. Shelly has big heart and she is always posting on Facebook how much she wants to help other people. She has a heart for community service. The owners go out of their way to please their customers. The food at Riverstone Bistro is consistently excellent.
