Reinhardt To Host Second Annual Musical Theatre Camp

Registration ends July 15 for the camp, which will be held July 24-29 at the university's campus in Waleska.

WALESKA, GA -- The stage in Flint Hall at Falany Performing Arts Center will soon come alive this month when Reinhardt University’s second annual Musical Theatre Camp gets underway.

Registration ends July 15 for the camp, which runs July 24-29 on the campus in Waleska.

“The camp is a fun and interactive experience to do near the end of the summer before school starts,” said camp director Brian Osborne. “It is a great opportunity to learn about how to sing and use your voice for developing characterization, choosing songs that work well in your voice, learning about how to audition and, of course, meeting friends who love to perform too.”

The camp will feature Reinhardt’s School of Performing Arts faculty, including David Nisbet (theatre), Stewart Hawley (theatre), Dr. Rebecca Salter (voice), Dr. Cory Schantz (voice), Dr. Anne Schantz (voice), Dr. Reverie Berger (voice), Tiffany Tindall (dance) and Osborne (vocal).

“There are lots of opportunities for careers in musical theatre," Osborne added. "We help you not only tap into your passion, but also teach you about how to gain confidence in your performing and get the role you want, whether it's in your school musical, in your community or maybe someday on Broadway."

The final day of camp will feature a showcase of songs campers work on all week. They will perform in Flint Hall at Falany Performing Arts Center. Two students from last year’s camp are returning this year after their great experiences.

“I honestly believe that after one voice lesson at camp, I walked out a better singer,” said Nick DiPuma, a Pickens High School student. “And after one week with Reinhardt’s phenomenal faculty, I walked out a better performer.”

Emily McGhee of Creekview High School said getting to work individually with "great teachers" has taught her a lot.

“I love the final performance because its’s so fun working with the other students all week and then showing off what we have learned," she added. "I’m really looking forward to another great camp this year.”

The camp is open to teens who are high school freshmen as well as recent high school graduates. Cost is $450 per person and includes voice lessons, acting classes, musical theatre workshop, movement and individual coaching and song work. All levels of experience welcome. Deadline to register is July 15.
