Resume Assistance Event Set For Feb. 27

From Cherokee Chamber: On Wednesday, February 27th the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce will sponsor its eighth annual resume assistance event from 10 am - 3 pm at the Chamber office located at 3605 Marietta Highway in Canton. Professionals will be on hand throughout the day to provide individual assistance to participants in creating their resume, revising an existing resume to make it more attractive to hiring managers, enhancing their job search skills, receive interview tips, and work on soft skills. This annual outreach event is an opportunity to receive one-on- one professional assistance free of charge. Spanish translation is available.

“Whether you are currently in a job search, are entering the job market, or are considering a possible career move in the future, it’s critical that you market yourself effectively and separate yourself from other candidates seeking the same position. A job search is, in many ways, a sales presentation that requires proper marketing and planning,” advises John Marinko of the Cherokee County Airport Authority, who is serving as Chair of this year's Passport to Employment resume assistance event. “The team of experts who are generously donating their time and expertise to this event have one specific goal in mind --- provide the candidate with the professional advice, assistance, and tools that will make them more confident and more effective in presenting their value to potential employers.” "Passport to Employment is an excellent way for the Chamber to partner with the community in order to assist with workforce preparedness," remarked Chamber Board Chair John Barker, owner of Delphi Global Technology. Attendees will walk away with a freshly polished resume they can take to the Career Expo on March 13th coordinated by the Cherokee Office of Economic Development.
