'Send A Friend A Smile:' GA Woman Spreads Cheer With Yard Signs
To spread cheer while many are stressed out due to coronavirus, a Canton woman is placing "I'm Cuckoo for You" signs in yards.

CANTON, GA — As the coronavirus is causing constant stress and keeping families and friends separated, one Georgia woman made it her goal to brighten the world through a simple gesture.
The cancellation of a launch party for The American Cuckoo Clock Company in Hickory Flat caused the owner Jodie Davis to come up with a way she can help others.
“After three years of build-up it was a sad shock," Davis said. "But everyone is in a similar boat. I got to thinking, what we could do to help others in these crazy times?

I wanted to do something to give a little spark of sunshine for those who are experiencing the stress and isolation due to the virus. Of course, it couldn't be in person. I remembered the 'I'm Cuckoo for You' yard signs we had had made to give away at our company launch party. Sadly, it was canceled, so like everyone else we were in limbo. But, I thought, we could still spread some cheer by getting those signs out."
The “I’m Cuckoo for You” signs were inspired by the company’s mission, and as Davis says, "we're in the smiles business."

The American Cuckoo Clock Company will place an “I’m Cuckoo for You” yard sign on the front lawn of those needing a pick-me-up.
To send a sign, text the following information and Davis will pop an “I’m Cuckoo for You!” yard sign in the recipient’s front yard.- Text 800-272-0742
- Address of your friend or relative
- If you’d like to add a greeting to the sign, for example, “Keeping Smiling! Love, Susan” – include that.
To spread even more smiles, the recipient is instructed on the back of the sign to pass it along to someone else or text Davis back, and the company will pick it up to pay it forward.
The first person Davis said she contacted was the Communications Manager for the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce.
"She loved it so much she asked me to put signs on her childrens' lawns saying she misses her grandchildren terribly," she said. "(This is important) to keep from feeling lonely, sure. But for me and I bet many others, this strange time is a reminder of what matters. And that means who. My friends and family are feeling grateful for what we have and for the people who love and care about us. This is what will get us all through this. Listening to the news is scary. But what's real is the moment we are in right now. As we are seeing there's a lot of good in our local community. The best thing we can for us and others is be part of it!"
