When Will Snow Arrive In North Georgia, Wind Advisory

Light snow accumulations are expected for portions of north Georgia on Monday. Find out when and where you may see flurries.

GEORGIA — Light snow accumulations are possible Monday afternoon and night, mainly over northeast Georgia, according to the National Weather Service. Windy conditions are also expected through Tuesday morning.

Strong, low pressure will be moving through the southern Appalachians and will bring moisture and cold temperatures to north and central Georgia. Rain will mix with and change to snow Monday and Monday night generally north of an Atlanta to Gainesville line. With the cold temperatures aloft, any accumulating snow will be more likely at elevations above 2,000-feet. Temperatures are expected to fall during the day, reaching into the upper 20s and lower 30s by early evening.

Any light snow accumulations could lead to hazardous road conditions. Snow accumulations should be around an inch or less, with higher amounts possible in higher elevation areas.

In addition, the cold temperatures and strong winds of 15-20 mph with gusts to near 30 mph will cause wind chills to fall into the teens and 20s Monday night and Tuesday morning.

Winds are increasing across north and central Georgia and breezy conditions will continue through the early afternoon hours. West to northwest winds between 15 and 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph can be expected Monday morning and early afternoon.

The flood warning continues through late Tuesday night. Flood stage in 7-feet, according to the National Weather Service.
