Wrong Way Driver Causes Accident On I-575 In Canton
Police say a male driver was traveling northbound on the southbound lane of I-575, resulting in a four vehicle accident in Canton.
CANTON, GA — Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services responded to a multi-vehicle accident Wednesday morning at 7 a.m. on the southbound lane of I-575, just north of Hickory Flat Highway.
According to reports, a male driver was traveling northbound on the southbound lane of the highway resulting in a four vehicle accident. Cherokee County firefighters arrived in five minutes.
According to Cherokee County firefighter, Steven McEntyre, the wrong way driver was entrapped in his vehicle and had to be extricated. He was also the only one injured and was later transported to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta to be evaluated.

The southbound lanes of I-575 were shut down until the cleanup was complete. Both lanes were reopened at 8:15 a.m. The accident is currently under investigation.
