Zeta Kills Georgia Man After Tree Falls On Mobile Home

A man who was sleeping inside the mobile home early Thursday morning died as a result of the tree fall, Cherokee County deputies said.

CHEROKEE COUNTY, GA — One person was killed Thursday morning after a tree fell on a mobile home in Cherokee County as remnants of Hurricane Zeta moved through north Georgia.

According to Cherokee County Sheriff's Office Spokesperson Jay Baker, deputies received a call that a tree had fallen inside the Eastgate Mobile Home Park, which is at 6310 Bells Ferry Rd. in Acworth.

When deputies arrived on the scene, they found that a large oak tree had been uprooted and fallen on a mobile home, Baker said.

Deputies said a man who was sleeping at the time inside the trailer died as a result of the tree fall.

There were three other adults inside the mobile home as well as one child. Deputies said they were not injured.

Deputies said they are still trying to learn the identity of the victim but believe he is possibly from out of state.

The victim had recently moved into the mobile home and had been renting a room but did not know the other people that well, Baker said.
