2 Lanes On I-75 Southbound Closed For Concrete Slab Repair

The closure is at the I-75 bridge over Allatoona Dam Road just south of the Etowah River in Bartow County.

CARTERSVILLE, GA — Drivers who rely on a portion of Interstate 75 in Bartow County will be in for a headache over the next day or so while crews repair a concrete slab.

The agency will close the two inside lanes on the southbound side just south of the Etowah River so crews can repair the slab at the approach to the bridge over Allatoona Dam Road, the agency said Thursday.

Georgia DOT spokesperson Mohamed Arafa said one southbound lane remains open in the area.

"It is hard to tell at this time exactly how long the repair will take and this double lane closure be in place," he said.

In the meantime, residents can get around the inevitable delays by using an alternative route. The easiest would be to utilize the Ga. 113/Main Street interchange, which is north of the affected area.

Once you get on Ga. 113, turn right and continue towards U.S. 41/Joe Frank Harris Parkway. Turn left to go southbound on U.S. 41 until you reach Red Top Mountain Road. Once at Red Top, be sure to turn left where you will continue to access I-75 southbound.
