The 4 Korners play jazz fusion, though they prefer to call their sounds "journey music."

CARTERSVILLE, GA -- On Saturday, June 8, The 4 Korners Band is performing live in downtown Cartersville. An original live instrumental music band, The 4 Korners play jazz fusion, though they prefer to call their sounds “journey music.”

The ensemble is composed of Clarence “T-lee” Hill on keys, James “JT” Thompson on bass, Isaac “Ike” Thompson on guitar, and Jerrod “J-rod” Sullivan on drums. The 4 Korners will take the downtown plaza stage at 7 p.m. and perform until 8:30 p.m.

The 4 Korners band members are all local, with JT Ike, and J-Rod all being from Cartersville, and Clarence from Acworth. Having toured with major artists, The 4 Korners dropped their first album, an eponymous indie record, in 2014, and in 2015 they signed with Ropeadope Records. Their first album with Ropeadope Records, Portal of Gold, was released in October 2016. In July 2017, they released a single, “Phraseology,” on their own.

The 4 Korners are known for playing with an inimitably high level of energy. They cite as key influences Chick Corea, Yellow Jackets, and Dave Weckl, though their sound is uniquely their own. When you are listening to The 4 Korners, you are being transported to someplace else, someplace that only you can see, someplace that you share with the world at large.

Hannah Surrett, marketing and promotions coordinator for the Cartersville Downtown Development Authority said, “I am so excited to see The 4 Korners in downtown Cartersville. They are so well known not just regionally – but nationally, and they have a massive following on social media which indicates to me that they are also listened to world-wide. I’m thrilled that they want to return home and play for their community in this special feature concert. They are a band you definitely don’t want to miss!”

This concert is free admission and a great time to spend with friends and family. Attendees may bring their blankets or lawn chairs to the event, or grab one of the seats in the amphitheater. A warm summer night is a perfect time to sit back, relax, and enjoy some drinks if you so wish. The Local Bar and Grill will be onsite selling both alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks. Downtown restaurants will also be in attendance selling delicious cuisine and desserts.

Continued Surrett, “A pro tip from some of our regular concert attendees is to make an evening of it while you’re downtown. With so many great places to shop and dine there is plenty to do to fill time before 7, then join us in Friendship Plaza for some music and socializing.
