Allatoona Lake Hosts 'Get Kids to the Park Day'

The event will be at Galt's Ferry on May 20. Admission is free for everyone attending.

From the US Army Corps of Engineers: The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District, is scheduled to host a Get Kids to the Park / Safe Kids Day at the Galt’s Ferry Day-Use Area at Allatoona Lake in Acworth, Ga., May 20. The event, which is cosponsored by the Safe Kids Cherokee County and the National Park Trust, will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Admission is free for everyone attending the event, however boat launchers will still be charged a daily-use fee.

Fourth grade students in attendance will receive an Every Kid to the Park Pass, that is good for free admission at Federal parks across the country for the entire family. Technicians from the Safe Kids Cherokee County will be on hand to provide free car seat checks and the Cherokee County Dive Team will put on a diving demonstration.

Additional activities during the event will include a “chalk on the walk” water-safety art contest, a kids fishing derby, various safety and informational booths, photographs with Buddy the Beaver, free food vendors, and Park Rangers from Allatoona Lake will hand out collectible ranger trading cards.
