Bartow Give A Kid A Chance Set For July 28 (ICYMI)

CARTERSVILLE, GA — Parents and guardians of less fortunate children are encouraged to register their little ones for the annual Bartow Give a Kid a Chance initiative, which will be held Saturday, July 28 at two locations: Allatoona Resource Center and Bartow County College and Career Academy.

Bartow Give a Kid a Chance pulls together a slew of resources to provide less fortunate children with dental, hearing, vision, and nutrition screenings, haircuts, a T-shirt, grade-level reading books and a meal in addition to the backpacks filled with school supplies ahead of the school year. The services are provided free of charge thanks to donors and sponsors.

In 2017, hundreds of volunteers from churches, nonprofit organizations, city and county school systems, businesses and state and local agencies provided those services to more than 2,000 children. Those volunteers also delivered more than 250 backpacks to the students who were not able to attend the event. Another 500 children were provided school supplies throughout the year, according to the organization's website.

The goal for 2018 is to serve 2,500 children at both locations. Organizers have organized registration based on your child's location: youngsters living on the southern side of the city attending Allatoona Elementary, Emerson Elementary and South Central Middle schools can click here to register for the event.
