Bartow History Museum Rolls Out Summer Camps

Participants will explore a different facet of history each week through games, crafts and hands-on activities.

CARTERSVILLE, GA -- Summer is just days away, and the Bartow History Museum is now enrolling children for its camp programs.

Campers will explore a different slice of history each week through games, crafts, hands-on activities, and more. 

Five-day as well as one-day mini camps are available for caregivers to choose from. The five-day camps run Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to noon.

Registration is $90 for members and $100 for not-yet-members, which includes program fee, museum admission, snack and T-shirt. The one day mini camps are only for the youngest campers between the age of 3 and 5. 

Registration for mini camps is $18 for members and $20 for not-yet-members. Campers must be fully potty trained to attend camp.

The following camps will be available:   

Toys from the Attic

  • June 10, children ages 3 to 5
  • Come and play! We’ll be breaking out the old fashioned toys and games for this mini-camp. You will even make your own toys to take home!

Archaeology Camp

  • June 13–17, rising third to fifth-graders
  • At Archaeology Camp, children will dig into history! Participants will discover their inner archaeologist as they explore ancient history through hands-on activities, artifact analysis, demonstrations, and more. Camp crafts, games and more round out each day. Every camp day will bring new finds, discoveries and fun!

Adventures in Bartow

  • June 20–24, rising sixth through eight-graders
  • Attention middle schoolers: this is the camp for you. Join us as we use the museum as our home base for this week of fun, exploring history and culture around the county. Some of our adventures will even come to us! The museum’s Instagram feed may never be the same...#adventuresinbartow

Colonial Kids

  • June 27 through July 1, rising kindergartners through second-graders
  • Join us to experience what life was like for American colonists from the first settlers to the beginnings of the Revolutionary War. Campers will explore what life was like for children in the 16th and 17th centuries, make colonial toys and beeswax candles, try writing with quill and ink, practice their drumming, and meet some interesting personalities from the time period. 

Christmas in July

  • July 8, ages 3 to 5
  • Experience a winter wonderland in the middle of the summer! Join us for a morning of reindeer games, Santa silliness, and Christmas crafts.

Mysteries at the Museum

  • July 11–15, rising third through fifth-graders
  • Grab your magnifying glass and curator gloves as we dive into the mysteries in the museum’s collections. Campers will hone their detective skills as we take fingerprints, practice code breaking and handle artifacts with their own real mysteries! Participants will even get to try their hand at curating their own exhibit of mystery items.

Time Travelers

  • July 18–22, rising kindergartners through second graders
  • Jump into the time machine to visit the past and the future! Make stops at several interesting times in history. Play with toys from the Stone Age and from the days of sailing ship discovery. Snack like settlers. Create a toy on an assembly line during your visit to the industrial revolution. See where the space age takes us. Every day will be an adventure!
