Bartow, Cartersville Schools Make Decision About Jan 16 Classes
BREAKING: The National Weather Service says up to an inch of light snow could move into Bartow County and much of north Georgia on Tuesday.

CARTERSVILLE, GA — Due to the threat of inclement weather forecasters expect to move into the area today, Bartow County and Cartersville City schools will dismiss early on Tuesday, Jan. 16.
Bartow County schools spokesperson Alisha Evans said the elementary schools will release students at 11:30 a.m. while middle and high schools will release at 12:30 p.m.
The Cartersville City School System will also dismiss its students early due to the weather, spokesperson Cheree Dye said. Pre-K and Cartersville Primary Schools will dismiss at 11:30 a.m. while Cartersville Elementary, Middle and Cartersville High schools will dismiss at 12:30 p.m.

The Winter Weather Advisory issued by the National Weather Service for Bartow County will go into effect from noon Tuesday to 7 a.m. Wednesday. A wind chill advisory will also take effect Tuesday, starting at 9 p.m. and ending at 1 p.m. Wednesday.
Light snow and very cold wind chills expected today, with total accumulations of up to 1 inch predicted for the area. Residents should also expect wind chills ranging from 15 above to 5 below 0 degrees.

Light snow will cause travel difficulties while the cold wind chills can cause frostbite in as little as 30
minutes to exposed skin, NWS states.
