BCSO Agency of the Year for Area Traffic Enforcement Network

The Governor’s Office of Highway Safety has announce the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office was selected as Agency of the Year for the Mountain Area Traffic Enforcement Network. The MATEN is one of 16 regional traffic enforcement networks dividing all 159 Georgia counties, according to the press release. 

The network including Bartow County also involves 10 other counties north and west of Bartow. The regional networks are open to all sworn law enforcement officers and prosecutors and are designed to enhance traffic enforcement activities through networking, training and legislation.

BCSO was selected for its dedication to traffic safety and support of the MATEN. Sheriff’s office deputies regularly attend the meetings and report their traffic enforcement activity monthly and for various traffic campaigns, such as Click It or Ticket. As part of this cooperation and training, the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office also participates in regional road checks targeting dangerous drivers and provides the B.A.T. mobile, a mobile blood-alcohol testing vehicle, for various checks. 

In addition to being the agency of the year, GOHS also announced BCSO's Capt. Lee Fletcher was selected as Officer of the Year for the regional network. Fletcher shows his dedication to traffic safety by ensuring that his agency is represented at the regional meetings and that Bartow County participates in the various GOHS traffic enforcement campaigns, such as Operation Zero Tolerance, the release says. Fletcher is considered an asset to the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office and is instrumental in providing training, scheduling and participation in the MATEN for his agency.
