Cartersville, Bartow Schools Make Decision On Jan 17 Classes

The National Weather Service expects more snow and dangerously cold temperatures to move into the area Tuesday and Wednesday.

CARTERSVILLE, GA — Due to the icy road conditions that are starting to crop up in the area, the Bartow County and Cartersville City school systems have decided to cancel classes for Wednesday, Jan. 17.

For Cartersville students, the previously scheduled inclement weather day — Monday, Feb. 19 — will serve as the make-up day.

Brad Cothran, Bartow County EMS spokesperson, said all county offices will delay opening until 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 18. Both Georgia Highlands and Chattahoochee Technical colleges announced they will close up shop and cancel classes across all of their campuses for Jan. 17.

A Wind Chill Advisory is also in effect until 1 p.m. Wednesday, and you should expect wind chills to range anywhere from 25 above zero to 5 below zero degrees.
