Cartersville Boy Who Drowned In Pool Laid To Rest

Police allege Jagger Settles and his siblings were left alone for more than 14 hours before his body was recovered by a sheriff's deputy.

CARTERSVILLE, GA -- Funeral services were held Friday for the little boy whose body was found in a pool after police say he and his siblings were left alone for more than 14 hours over the Memorial Day weekend.

The service for Jagger Reese Settles, 2, was held Friday, June 9 at Owen Funeral Home in Cartersville. He was buried at Bascomb Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery in Woodstock.

Jagger's mother, Bobbie Jessica Prather, is charged with felony murder and four counts of cruelty to children in the first degree after a sheriff's deputy responding to a call around 1:33 p.m. May 29 at a home on Canter Lane recovered the child's body from a swimming pool.

According to warrants obtained by Patch from Bartow County Magistrate Court, Prather is accused of leaving her four children unsupervised for more than 14 hours.

"Said actions did cause the death of the victim when child fell into pool and had no supervision for such period of time," the warrant states.

The warrant outlines the cruelty to children charges stem from Prather allegedly deprived her three-year-old, four-year-old and two one-year-old children of "necessary sustenance" to the extent that their health and well-being had been placed in jeopardy. The children were all left without supervision for more than 14 hours, the warrant notes.

Jagger is survived by his mother; father, Doug Settles; brothers, Jayden McCain, Jasper and Jessiah Settles; aunts and uncles, Holly (Efrain) Miranda, Jordan (Greg) Vickery, Wende Cook, Joshua Prather and Joseph Prather; cousins, Destiny, Jade and Abigail Miranda, Nathan and Lexie Vickery, Audie Prather and Baylee Fields, his obituary states.

Prather remains held without bond at the Bartow County Jail.
