Cartersville Woman Falls From Mount Yonah, Dies Of Injuries

A 46-year-old mother from Cartersville died after falling more than 300 feet from the rock face of Mount Yonah.

WHITE COUNTY, GA — A 46-year-old Cartersville woman died Tuesday after she fell more than 300 feet from the rock face of Mount Yonah while hiking.

Jennifer Randel was with her husband and young son when she slipped and fell, according to Now Habersham. Assistant White County coroner Josh Barrett said she died instantly.

First responders from several agencies took five hours to retrieve Randel’s body. Both the White County Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia Department of Natural Resources are investigating the incident.

Mount Yonah, formally known as Yonah Mountain, is five miles from Cleveland, Georgia. Three people have died in the last 15 years falling from Mount Yonah.
