City of Cartersville Warns of Robbers Posing as Utility Workers
If a person asks to enter your home, ask to see his city ID badge.

The city of Cartersville is warning residents to be aware that "some people have recently pretended to be utility workers to gain access to people's homes and then robbed them," according to the press release.
"Do not let this happen to you. If the person(s) asks to enter your home or show you utility work outside, please verify they are a utility worker by asking to see his or her city identification badge. Â
"All city utility employees carry identification and will show it to you when requested. Additionally, all utility work usually takes place between the normal business hours of Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

"Utility workers do not normally need access to your home or property unless you requested service. If someone shows up at your door during normal hours without prior notice and/or if anything looks suspicious, ask the worker to remain outside and call the city of Cartersville Customer Service at 770-387-5607 to confirm.  Â
"If you are approached by anyone claiming to be a utility worker but the person refuses to show identification, do not let that person in your home. Notify the police and utility immediately."
