CARTERSVILLE, GA — Two former Cartersville High School football stars have been named to national college award “watch lists” for the coming season.

Trevor Lawrence, who quarterbacked Clemson to a national championship in 2018, is one of 90 players on the initial list for the Maxwell Award, according to The Daily Tribune News.

The Maxwell Award is given annually to the “most outstanding player in college football.” Its winner is chosen by coaches, members of the media and Maxwell Club members. The award is named for football coach and writer Robert "Tiny" Maxwell.
