Donna Kirkland was an optician for Vision One in Emerson and was working to become an optometrist before she died Tuesday in Bartow County.

ROME, GA — The Floyd County woman who died in Tuesday's three-vehicle crash in Bartow County will be laid to rest on Saturday. The funeral for Donna Misti Brownlow Kirkland will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 28 at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home South Chapel in Rome. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, April 27 at the funeral home.

Kirkland, 44, of Rome, died in the collision on U.S. 411/S.R. 20 just east of Hardin Bridge Road near Kingston. The Georgia State Patrol was dispatched to the crash on the eastbound side of the highway around 7:30 a.m. April 24.

A preliminary investigation indicates a 2015 Dodge Ram pickup truck was traveling westbound while a 2017 Ford F350 and 2011 Kia Soul were going eastbound. According to GSP, the Dodge was "driving too fast for conditions and failed to maintain its lane" when it traveled across the median and into the eastbound lanes. The truck hit the Ford and continued to travel westbound on the eastbound side when it collided with the Kia.
