“We expect some outrageous costumes and some serious channeling of rock and roll legends,” said Shira Kerce, CRBI membership and events coordinator.

The annual bash will also feature live music from Jerry on the Moon, boat rides on the river, silent and live auctions, libations from New Belgium Brewery and Barefoot Wine and Bubbly and a barbecue battle to determine the best backyard barbecuers in the Coosa River basin.

Gates for the Biodiversity Bash open at 6 p.m. and the revelry continues until 10 p.m. along the banks of the river at Heritage Park in downtown Rome.

“The purpose of the event is to celebrate the 27 species of fish, mussels, crayfish and snails that live in our local rivers and nowhere else on earth,” said Kerce. “We live in a special place and at River Revelry we give a shout out to these special critters and Coosa River communities.”

Tickets are now available online at www.coosa.org. Through Aug. 24, tickets are $45 or $40 each for two or more tickets and includes a year’s membership in the river protection organization. After Aug. 24 all tickets are $45.
