Trump Threatens Kemp, Raffensperger With Jail: GA Election News
President Donald Trump re-tweeted a post suggesting Gov. Brian Kemp and Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger should be jailed.

GEORGIA — Soon after Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger announced on Monday a signature audit of ballot envelopes in Cobb County — and Gov. Brian Kemp announced his support — President Donald Trump re-tweeted a message from an ally that the two "will soon be going to jail."
"President Trump @realDonaldTrump is a genuinely good man," said Atlanta attorney Lin Wood in the original tweet. "He does not really like to fire people. I bet he dislikes putting people in jail, especially 'Republicans.' He gave @BrianKempGA & @GaSecofState every chance to get it right. They refused. They will soon be going to jail."
Beneath the tweet were photos of Kemp and Raffensperger, retouched to show them both wearing masks emblazoned with the Chinese flag.

The Cobb County signature audit will not change Georgia's election results because there's no way to match the signed envelopes with the cast ballots. President-elect Joe Biden beat Trump in Georgia by about 12,000 votes. Despite three vote counts and two state certifications, Trump and his allies have repeatedly accused Georgia and other states where he lost of allowing voter fraud.
On Monday, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution published an interview with Kemp where he characterized accusations of voter fraud as "ridiculous." Kemp was careful not to blame Trump for the accusations.

Wood recently litigated on Trump's behalf to stop the certification of election results. He also volunteered to defend Kyle Rittenhouse, an Illinois teenager charged with homicide in connection with shooting deaths during August protests in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
Loeffler, Perdue Announce Opposition To Braves Name Change
Even though the Atlanta Braves had no plans to change their name, U.S. Senators Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue announced Monday that they opposed them doing so.
"Not only are the Braves a Georgia institution — with a history spanning 54 years in Atlanta — they’re an American institution,” Loeffler and Perdue said in a joint statement. “The Braves’ name honors our nation’s Native American heritage, which should not be erased — and under no circumstances should one of the most celebrated teams in sports cave to the demands of the cancel culture and the radical left.”
Neither Loeffler nor Perdue claim to have been descended from Native Americans.
The announcement from Georgia’s Republican candidates for U.S. Senate comes days after reports surfaced that the Cleveland Indians planned to change their name. It also came the same day that President-elect Joe Biden defeated President Donald Trump in the Electoral College.
In July, Braves Chairman Terry McGuirk told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that the team would not change its name.
“We are so proud of our team’s name, and our expectation is that we will always be the Atlanta Braves,” McGuirk said to the Atlanta newspaper.
Biden Throws Shade On GOP Senate Candidates
With less than a month remaining before the Jan. 5 runoff election, President-elect Joe Biden campaigned in Atlanta Tuesday in support of Democratic senatorial candidates Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock.
"You know who didn't stand by you while Trump, Texas and others were trying to wipe out every single one of the almost five million votes you had cast here in Georgia in November? Your two Republican senators," Biden said, referring to a suit from Texas rejected last week by the U.S. Supreme Court. "They fully embraced nullifying nearly five million Georgia votes. You might want to remember that come Jan. 5."
