Man Steals Cash Box From Transmission Shop: Cops

Employees at Trans-Plus in Cartersville told a Bartow sheriff's deputy that the cash box contained about $100 and bank account information.

CARTERSVILLE, GA — A Cartersville business reported an unknown male walked into its establishment in broad daylight and stole a cash box earlier this week. A deputy with the Bartow County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to Trans-Plus at 1343 Joe Frank Harris Parkway on Monday, Jan. 28.

The officer met with an employee, who said he was working on a vehicle in the shop around 2:17 p.m. when he went into his office to collect a deposit just made by a customer and noticed the cash box had been taken from the business, according to an incident report.

Another employee told the deputy she didn't move the cash box, and she'd just taken the deposit from the customer before she stepped away from the area.

The male complainant said he reviewed surveillance cameras inside the company, which showed a man with a wearing white shoes, blue jeans and a black jacket walk into the business around 2:13 p.m. through an open door on the left side of the building. According to the report, this same male leaves the shop and gets into a gold passenger vehicle adorned with dark-tinted windows and a temporary, drive-out tag. He partially backs the vehicle into one of the bays and goes back inside the business.

"The male is observed opening the back driver side passenger door and putting something in the seat prior to leaving," the report adds.

The report notes the man left the premises around 2:15 p.m. He is described as a black male with a bald head. No other physical features, including his build or whether he had facial hair, were noted in the report.

About $100 in cash was inside the box, which also included account information for the Bank of the Ozarks. Anyone with information is asked to call the Bartow County Sheriff's Office at 770-382-5050. Trans-Plus is also asking anyone with information to call the company at 770-387-2212.
