In Memory: Charles Rice Warlick, Restored Historic Homes In Bartow County

Warlick owned Switchbacks Trail Design and Construction, where he designed and constructed the trail systems in Bartow County.

Charles Rice Warlick, 67, passed away on Saturday, July 8, 2017. Charles was born on Oct. 24, 1949, in Atlanta, son of the late Thomas and Frances Rice Warlick. Charles proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. After being honorably discharged from the military, he attended Reinhardt University where he learned his lifelong trade of architecture and construction.

He was an avid soybean and cotton farmer in his younger years and still kept wildflower and vegetable gardens. He was a craftsman that loved to work with his hands. He was a well-known restorer of historical homes and structures in Bartow County. He was the owner/operator of Switchbacks Trail Design and Construction, where he designed and constructed all of the trail systems in Bartow County, as well as many trails in the Southeast, including some work on the Appalachian Trail.

He is survived by his loving wife of thirteen years, Terri Warlick; sons, Glenn Warlick, Bryan (Angela) Warlick and Charles Rice (Lauren) Warlick, Jr.; step-children, Jason (Regina) Shaw, Tatum Shaw and Hannah (Daniel) Hart; grandchildren, Tate, Layla and Avery Warlick, Scarlett Warlick, Griffin and Mia Shaw, Mary and Charlotte Hart; brother, Thomas (Kathryn) Warlick, Jr.; sisters, Betty Archer and Julia (John) Cromartie; several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, July 14 at Sam Jones United Methodist Church with Rev. John Cromartie officiating. Friends are cordially invited to a gathering with the family for one hour prior to service time in the sanctuary of Sam Jones UMC.

In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions may be made in his honor to CARES Food Pantry at 89 Cares Drive in Jasper.
