Robbery, Carjacking Ends With Ride To Jail For Bartow Couple

Two Bartow County residents were arrested for carjacking and armed robbery after an incident Tuesday in Cartersville, authorities said.

CARTERSVILLE, GA — A Tuesday robbery and carjacking ended with a trip to jail and felony charges for two Bartow County residents, authorities said.

Christopher Chase Bennett, 31, of Cartersville and Haley Partin, 24, of White were arrested in connection with a carjacking reported Tuesday in the area of Fairview and North Tennessee streets, according to a statement from the Cartersville Police Department.

The pair were caught later that day during a traffic stop in White when authorities spotted the vehicle.

Once arrested, Bennett escaped from Cartersville police headquarters through a “malfunctioning door” and fled, according to the statement. He was later taken back into custody without incident by Cartersville police and Bartow County Sheriff’s Office deputies.

Both Bennett and Partin were charged with armed robbery, hijacking a motor vehicle and possession of a firearm or knife during commission of a felony. Bennett also was charged with escape and Partin was charged with battery.

As of Wednesday afternoon, both Chase and Partin are being held in the Bartow County Jail.
