Stolen Phone Found Under Couch Cushion: Cartersville Crime

A stolen phone was found under a couch cushion and a woman broke another woman's car window in recent Cartersville crimes.

CARTERSVILLE, GA -- The Cartersville Police Department provided the following information about recent incidents in the city. Arrests do not equal convictions.

  • A 65-year-old man was arrested and charged with theft of lost or mislaid property-misdemeanor, May 2. According to the police report: A man had his cellphone stolen after leaving it at the Kroger customer service counter. Kroger had video surveillance footage of someone else picking up his cell phone and leaving with it. The Samsung Galaxy phone, valued at $779, was located through a ping by Sprint, in the area of Ann Circle. Police found a man who met the appearance of the man on surveillance footage, and he told police he was in Kroger on the same day the phone went missing. He said he observed the phone laying on the counter and took it in an attempt to locate the owner. Police found the phone at the man's home, upstairs under the couch cushions. The man said the phone had been going off every thirty minutes and it was loud, so he placed it under the couch. The man was arrested.
  • A 43-year-old man was arrested on a charge of driving while license susupended, May 2.
  • A 59-year-old man was arrested and charged with probation violation, May 1.
  • A 51-year-old man was arrested and charged with violation of limited driving permit, May 2. The man was found to be in violation of his DUI permit after telling police he was returning home from a Waffle House.
  • A 32-year-old woman was arrested and charged with damage to property, May 3. According to a police report, 366 Old Mill Road (Etowah Village Apartments) was the location of a verbal fight between two women who were in an on and off again relationship. One woman came over to the other's apartment without permission to retrieve an item she left. That's when she heard another woman in the apartment and went crazy and began cussing at her and wanting back into the residence. Shortly after, the upset woman busted the front driver side window out of the other woman's vehicle. When asked why she did that, she said because she was mad.
