Tip Line Set Up To ID Body Found In Bartow Landfill
The Bartow County Sheriff's Office also released photos Friday of tattoos on body of unidentified woman found Monday in county landfill.
CARTERSVILLE, GA — The Bartow County Sheriff's Office is stepping up its efforts to solve the homicide case of an unidentified woman whose remains were found Monday in the county landfill. On Friday, the office announced that it has opened a special telephone tip line for anyone with information on the case, and it released photos of tattoos found on the woman's body.
The woman's remains were cut into pieces, then stuffed into bags and left in a container for a trash compactor at a local recycling center, Sheriff Clark Millsap said. The container was taken to the county landfill, where a sanitation worker on Monday discovered one of the body parts while emptying the container.
Millsap said his office has received and investigated hundreds of tips on the case, prompting the need for the separate phone number. The number is 770-387-5100.

On Friday, Millsap also released a photograph of a tattoo found on the woman's right wrist area. It "is believed to be the Japanese symbol for bravery," the sheriff said in a statement.
In addition, the sheriff's office released a photo of another tattoo, found on the woman's upper chest area. The office is encouraging anyone who sees these tattoos to share them with others, to increase the chances the woman can be identified.
She also had two names tattooed on each of her shoulder blades, say media reports.
