Update On Bartow County African American Heritage Trail
The July 13 meeting will discuss the two sites on the trail in Euharlee, the Covered Bridge and the Euharlee Black Pioneer Cemetery.

EUHARLEE, GA — The upcoming Euharlee Historical Society annual meeting will feature a presentation by Sheri Henshaw, executive director of Keep Bartow Beautiful, on the progress made on the Bartow County African American Heritage Trail. The meeting, which is scheduled for Saturday, July 13, will discuss the two sites on the trail in Euharlee, the Covered Bridge and the Euharlee Black Pioneer Cemetery, the Euharlee Welcome Center and History Museum said in news release.
"The African American Heritage Trail of Bartow County is a project that unexpectedly fell into my lap, when I first became aware of the…history of what was then only known to me as Bartow Carver Park... Once that project took hold and began to grow and take on a life of its own," Henshaw said in the release. "Justice Benham shared with me his hopes of creating a trail of African American Heritage sites in Bartow…that were representative of the breadth and depth of African American history in the United States. With the addition of a downtown walking tour of historic African American businesses in Cartersville, another dream of Justice Benham, we now have 19 sites total.”
The annual meeting is at 10 a.m. at the Euharlee Welcome Center and History Museum, located at 33 Covered Bridge Road, Euharlee. The meeting is free and open to the public. Henshaw’s presentation will begin after a short business meeting.
