Volunteerism Is A Way Of Life For Georgia's Adrienne Massingill
Young Marines names top volunteer in six states, Adrienne Massingill, with the Etowah Valley Young Marines in Cartersville.

For National Volunteer Week – April 18 – 24, the Young Marines honors Adrienne Massingill with the Volunteer of the Year award for Division 3. She volunteers with the Etowah Valley Young Marines located in Cartersville, Georgia. Massingill has volunteered more than 5,900 community service hours through the Young Marines program.
The Young Marines is a national youth education and service program for boys and girls, age eight through the completion of high school. It promotes the mental, moral, and physical development of its members. The program focuses on character building, leadership, and a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.
Division 3 includes six states: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, South Carolina, and Tennessee.

“Adrienne’s passion and determination really stand out in all she has done for her unit as well as for the organization,” said Col William P. Davis USMC (Ret), national executive director and CEO of the Young Marines. "It is especially meaningful to present this award during April which is National Volunteer Month. She is a wonderful mentor and teacher, reflecting all the best traits of our volunteers.”
For Massingill, seeing the youth members achieve their goals and set examples makes volunteering worth every key stroke and phone call.

“Volunteering helps shape the lives of the those who are mentored,” she said. “I have seen many youth members reach their goals and be exactly what they set out to be. Perhaps they did not believe they could accomplish a task or live a dream, but I’ve witnessed them not only accomplishing that task but living their dream to the fullest.”
According to her, these amazing young people have not only changed their future but helped change her and her future.
“They taught me exactly how to lead by example, and for that, I owe them my gratitude,” she said.

The Young Marines is a national non-profit 501(c)(3) youth education and service program for boys and girls, age eight through the completion of high school. The Young Marines promotes the mental, moral, and physical development of its members.
