What's Open, Closed Christmas Week 2020 In Cartersville
Check for services and offices in Cartersville and Bartow County that are closing early this week for Christmas.
CARTERSVILLE, GA — Christmas may be different for those who avoid larger gatherings to avoid the spread of COVID-19. What hasn't changed: Many services in Cartersville and Bartow County are closed for the holiday.
While Christmas is a federal holiday, some services may start their closures on Christmas Eve. Here are the openings and closings to know on and around Thursday, Dec. 24 (Christmas Eve) and Friday, Dec. 25 (Christmas).
- Government offices: All Bartow County and City of Cartersville offices are closed Thursday and Friday.
- Libraries: The Bartow County Library System is closed Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
- Schools: Students at Bartow County Schools and Cartersville School System schools are on break through Jan. 4, with classes beginning again on Tuesday, Jan. 5.
- The Bartow County Health Department will be closed Thursday and Friday. Regular hours will resume on Monday, Dec. 28.
- Trash pickup: City of Cartersville trash pickup scheduled for Thursday, Christmas Day, is rescheduled for the following Monday, Dec. 28.; trash pickup that had been scheduled for Dec. 28 or Dec. 29 will be picked up on Tuesday, Dec. 29. Because of double routes, no yard waste will be picked up on those days. In Bartow County, landfill and collection centers will be closed Thursday and Friday. The landfill will be open on Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. All collection centers will be open on a normal schedule Saturday and Sunday. Everything will be closed on New Year's Day.
- Christmas a federal holiday, and all U.S. Postal Service post offices will be closed. No mail will be delivered or sent. Regular business hours will resume on Saturday, Dec. 26.
- Publix: All stores open at regular hours and close at 7 p.m. on Christmas Eve. All stores and pharmacies will be closed on Christmas Day.
- Kroger: All stores and pharmacies will close at 7 p.m. on Christmas Eve and remain closed on Christmas Day.
