10th Falcons Dazzle And Dine Pampers Cancer Survivors

Cie Cie Wilson McGhee Excited About Day of Celebrating Cancer Survivors

Breast Cancer Survivor Cie Cie Wilson Mcghee, event manager for the City of Stockbridge, Georgia says she always "celebrated everyone else" and was excited and grateful on Tuesday that this time it was her who was pampered along with nine other cancer survivors by the Atlanta Falcons and its current and retired players. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

For the 10th year the Falcons Dazzle and Dine event on Tuesday included the "pink carpet" treatment for the women for a day of relaxation starting with a limo ride to the Jamison Shaw salon for hair and make up and ending with a dinner at Katana Teppanyaki & Sushi in Buckhead.

The survivors got gifts like jewelry from David Yurman and were announced and escorted onto the field at the Falcons vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers game on Sunday. The Falcons won the game by a score of 34-29.

Falcons cheerleaders and players were with the survivors throughout the day. Players and retired players who participated included G Ben Garland, TE Logan Paulsen, LB Josh Harris, Punter Matt Bosher and Kicker Matt Ryan and LB DeVondre Campbell. Cie Cie's escort for the day and on Sunday was former Atlanta Falcons Safety and Atlanta resident Antoine Harris who played with the team for two seasons from 2007-2009.

"Knowing how much these women have to go through on a daily basis -things I have personally witnessed them go through, it can be overwhelming sometimes," said Campbell.

In Georgia, it is estimated that more than 8,000 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer and more than 1,200 will die from the disease this year. A woman in the U.S. has a 1 in 8 chance of developing invasive breast cancer during her lifetime.

Wilson is planning a luncheon for breast cancer survivors this Thursday at the Merle Manders Conference Center in Stockbridge featuring recording artist Glen Jones. She is also planning a "Pretty In Pink Love Walk" this Saturday from 9-noon in Stockbridge's Clark Park.
