4 Convicted In Mistaken-Identity Murder In Atlanta
Fulton County prosecutors say trio of gang members sprayed the wrong car with nearly 60 bullets, killing an innocent man.
ATLANTA, GA -- Four armed gang members laid in wait outside a southwest Atlanta gas station as a man drove up. "There they go!" one of the gunmen yelled, prompting the foursome to spray the car with nearly 60 bullets. Long after the barrage was finished, investigators made a startling discovery: The gunmen had mistaken the man, a father of five, for a rival gang member.
A Fulton County jury this week returned guilty verdicts for Durrell Marco Muse, 29; 31-year-old Tequila Denae Forehand; Darious Harris, 23; and 19-year-old Jujuane Harris, District Attorney Paul Howard announced Thursday. The malicious quartet were convicted of multiple charges, including participation in criminal street gang activity and felony murder.
Fulton prosecutors said that in September 2014, Antonio Clements, 31, unwittingly drove into the ambush at the Chevron gas station at Campbellton and Stanton roads in Atlanta.

The four defendants, accompanied by other co-conspirators, came to the gas station in two separate vehicles and were seen on surveillance video with an AK-47 automatic rifle and multiple handguns, prosecutors said.
When Clements pulled up, the gunmen unloaded up to 59 shots, striking his car nine times and grazing his girlfriend, Kendra Clopton, who was a passenger. Clements died from a shot to the neck from the AK-47, authorities said.

Clements' murder drew significant interest from local media and was covered by the crime show "First 48."
When three of the suspects were arrested shortly after the murder, Clopton told WSB-TV that she was struggling to cope. “The hardest part is that he's gone and they're still here,” she said.
