Atlanta Moon Ride is Back and Set for Friday the 13th

Nighttime bike ride through city of Atlanta on June 13 will benefit Bert's Big Adventure.

Patch Staff Report

Atlanta Moon Ride returns for its second year of after-dark antics! Bicycle enthusiasts and bike-curious Atlantans of all skill levels and ages are invited to hit the streets at 10 p.m. on Friday, June 13 for a safe, fun, 6.5-mile ride through the coolest neighborhoods in the city.

Participants are encouraged to ride with flair – dressing in costume, gearing up bikes with headlamps, glow sticks, bullhorns, unicorn horns – anything goes.

More than 800 people joined last year for the inaugural ride, and this year’s event promises even more fun with a special Friday the 13th date and a full moon expected.

New features will also enhance the experience for riders. Atlanta Moon Ride is partnering this year with Bicycle Tours of Atlanta and Atlanta Beltline Bicycle to offer on-site bicycle rentals for a $25 fee. Riders can confirm their rentals on a first come, first serve basis through the registration process. Sign up early to reserve your size, as bikes are limited in number.

Another partnership with Sopo Bicycle Cooperative will allow riders to donate used bikes post-race for the benefit of the cycling community. Sopo is a non-profit, community-based bicycle repair shop in Grant Park that makes transportation affordable, accessible, and sustainable. Each bike donated will enter the owner into a raffle for a brand new ride from Peachtree Bikes.

The nighttime cruise will start and end at Park Tavern, taking you safely on a scenic and traffic-free route through Midtown, Little Five Points, the Highlands and more. The party continues post-ride at Park Tavern with a DJ, specialty brews and awesome food served up late into the night.

All of the proceeds from Atlanta Moon Ride will support the work of local charity Bert’s Big Adventure. Bert’s Big Adventure is a nonprofit organization that provides a magical, all-expenses-paid, five-day journey to Walt Disney World® for children with chronic and terminal illnesses and their families.

Grab your bike and your friends and register online today at www.atlantamoonride.com. The cost is currently $25 per rider with the price increasing to $30 at midnight on May 23.
