Atlantans Could Vote On Sunday Alcohol Sales Ban
Residents can voice opinion at Tues., Sept. 6, council meeting.
Atlanta residents may soon get the chance to weigh in on Sunday alcohol sales.
If approved by the Atlanta City Council, Ordinance No. 11-O-1169 would let voters decide this November if the city should allow Sunday retail sales of beer wine and liquor.
Southwest Atlanta City Council members Cleta Winslow and Keisha Lance Bottoms area among the sponsors. The other council members in support of the plan are Yolanda Adrean, Michael Julian Bond, Kwanza Hall, Alex Wan and H. Lamar Willis, according to an Atlanta City Council news release.

If the City Council approves, the Sunday alcohol sales referendum question willl be placed on the Nov. 8, City of Atlanta Special Election ballot.
That ballot also would include the referendum to continue the extension of the the penny sales tax by Atlanta Public Schools and to fill the District 2 Atlanta Board of Education seat vacated by Khaatim Sherrir El.

Voters are encouraged to voice their opinions on the Sunday retail alcohol sales initiative at the the City Council's next meeting, scheduled for 1 p.m. Tues., Sept. 6.
