Soon to be legendary Braves baseball player, Chipper Jones, was in Southwest Atlanta on Thursday morning to attend the ribbon cutting of the new baseball field at West Manor Park.
The field will be named after the future Hall of Famer, who along with the Braves will be renovating a dozen or so inner-city fields in Georgia and Florida.
Thursday began a series of special days for Chipper and the Jones family.  On Friday, Chipper will be inducted into the Braves Hall of Fame during a special luncheon and then have his number 10 retired in a pre-game ceremony at Turner Field before the Braves take on the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Having his #10 jersey retired is one of his greatest honors, said Chipper. Â Hank Aaron, who is coincidently a resident in the West Manor area, also has his jersey retired by the Braves.
After the ribbon cutting ceremony, Chipper held a skills and drills session with area youth baseball players.
