Gabby Douglas Pens New Book, Comes to Cascade on March 22

She's won two Olympic gold medals at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, been named one of Barbara Walter's Most Fascinating People at the age of 16 (now 17) and voted as the Associated Press' "Female Athlete of the Year." It only makes sense that Gabrielle "Gabby" Douglas would pen a book.

“This is a great opportunity for Atlanta to meet this remarkable gymnast and inspiring young woman,” Ewa OmoOba, manager of the Shrine of the Black Madonna Cultural Center, stated in a release. “We are thrilled that she chose our store for her signing in Atlanta. We welcome her with glad hearts and open arms!”

Gabby, the first woman of color of any nationality and the first African-American gymnast in Olympic history to become the Individual All-Around Champion, tells her personal story of determination, perserverance and even financial hardship in her new book.

"I want people to think, 'Gabby can do it, I can do it,'" Douglas stated in a release. "Set that bar. If you're going through struggles or injuries, don't let it stop you from what you want to accomplish."
