Historic South Atlanta's Only Grocer Marks One-Year Anniversary

Carver Neighborhood Market is hosting an event this Saturday, May 14.

ATLANTA, GA -- Historic South Atlanta's only grocery store, Carver Neighborhood Market, is is celebrating its one-year anniversary on Saturday, May 14.

In the 1950s, there were four markets where the store now sites on McDonough Boulevard. When the store opened a year ago, however, there were none.

Each month, Carver now serves 2,000 customers, selling 200 loaves of bread; 150 dozen eggs; and 320 pounds of bananas, among other staples.
