Homeowner Stabbed To Death In Atlanta-Area Home Invasion

Fayette County authorities are searching for one of three suspects who killed a man early Friday in an upscale subdivision.

FAYETTE COUNTY, GA -- Law enforcement officers are searching Friday for a suspect in the fatal stabbing of a homeowner in Fayette County during a home invasion, Patch has learned. Two other men have been arrested in the slaying, which occurred before 3 a.m. in an upscale subdivision on Lake Horton Landing Drive, according to local media.

Early reports indicate that the victim's wife discovered the men inside the home and her husband bleeding from a knife attack. The victim's name has not been released but he is said to be a 74-year-old CEO, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. He was rushed to Piedmont Fayette Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The armed trio robbed the couple and drove off in their gray Lexus.

Officers chased the getaway car near Jimmie Mayfield Boulevard and Bradley Drive before it crashed, allowing authorities to arrest two of them, according to the WAGA-TV.

Fayette authorities set up a checkpoint in search of the remaining suspect, searching motorists in the area, according to WSB-TV.

“We believe the third person left the area in another vehicle,” Fayette sheriff’s Lt. Allen Stevens told WAGA.
