Hundreds Crowd Greenbriar for Back to School Jam

Southwest Atlanta youth get ready for the first day of school: Aug. 8 for Atlanta Public Schools pupils and Aug. 15 for students who attend Fulton County Schools.

In recognition of the new school year, Atlanta City Councilmember Keisha Lance Bottoms and corporate sponsors donated 1,000 backpacks filled with school supplies to students Saturday at Greenbriar Mall, 2841 Greenbriar Pkwy.

Joining by Everest College, Wal-Mart and Amerigroup, the councilwoman and city staff gave away the free backpacks, provided fun games and showcased a range of family resources at "Back to School Jam 2011."
