Southwest Atlanta Native Jennifer Jones to Blog for Cascade Patch

Jennifer Jones, a southwest Atlanta native, entrepreneur and a consultant to non-profit organizations in both Atlanta and Charlotte, N.C., will begin blogging for Cascade Patch next week.

When she is not outlining plans for fundraising events or preparing proposals for partnerships and funding opportunities, Jones is slicing and dicing in the kitchen for friends and family. 

Experimenting with colors, textures, tastes and aromas of foods channels her sensual creative expression. Her love for understanding people and what drives them in life by understanding why and how they eat is a passion that fuels her energy for cooking, entertaining, and the conversations, which develop naturally.  

Jennifer studied Africana Studies and Economics at Agnes Scott College in Decatur. In 2009, she incorporated her understanding of cultural and socio-economic issues and her love for fresh foods into the development of Grow Charlotte, a non-profit program, which builds raised-bed organic teaching gardens for students of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Public Schools System, who reside in underserved (often impoverished) communities. 

As of January 2012, the program and its community partners has provided 60 gardens to local schools. Nearly 600 children are using Grow Charlotte gardens and curriculum to learn about science, nutrition, and food supply, by growing seasonably fresh fruits and vegetables.

In 2010-2011, Jennifer opened K.I.S.S. (Keep It Simple and Sensational), a weekly customized fresh meal delivery business in the Triangle area of North Carolina. 

Her affordable meal plans were a hit with students of The University of North Carolina School of Dentistry and Duke University's School of Medicine. She recently relocated her business to Atlanta where her services meets the demands of friends and family.

Jones grew up in the Headland Heights community near Greenbriar Mall and has strong roots in the greater Cascade community. She is a graduate of Collier Heights Elementary School and Tri-Cities High School and is a life-long member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church on Peyton Road.
