Gala to Raise Awareness and Honor Efforts to Support Metro Atlanta Homeless Families

Nicholas House and PNC Bank are teaming up to host the 1st annual Night to Remember Gala to Support Homeless Families on August 7 at 6 p.m. at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in midtown Atlanta. The Night to Remember Gala acknowledges the progress of homeless families served by Nicholas House and recognizes the efforts of community activists who inspire innovative actions that are changing the trajectory for former homeless men and women.
This year’s fundraising event will feature CBS-46 News Anchor Karyn Greer, who will serve as Mistress of Ceremony, and actress Lynn Whitfield will be the gala’s keynote speaker. Attendees will enjoy special appearances by actor Hill Harper, actress Sheryl Lee Ralph, and musical performances by Ken Ford, Gritz, Jelly Butter Band and songstress Myrna Clayton. Gala highlights include a live casino, silent auction, fund-a-need campaign, elegant dining, complimentary champagne, a premium cash bar and more.
“The Nicholas House A Night to Remember Gala will heighten awareness of family homelessness. I am proud of the community support for homeless families who are put at serious risk night after night,” says Dennis Bowman, Executive Director, The Nicholas House.

Attendees at the Gala also will experience stories from homeless families who, with community support and assistance from Nicholas House, have reshaped their lives. Families represent an increasingly large proportion of the homeless population. In Georgia, 37% of homeless are families with children, with numbers rising to 42% in Fulton County and 51% in DeKalb County. Nicholas House is working with community partners to end family homelessness in Atlanta and surrounding areas, making it rare, brief, and non-recurring. Nicholas House was appointed as the only family homeless service provider on the City of Atlanta’s Strategic Planning Committee to address family homelessness.
